The River Findhorn offers 4 miles of double bank salmon fishing, with the season running from 11th February until 30th September. Permits for the Findhorn available from the Tackle shop in Forres. For further information on fishing in Forres and the local area, visit the Forres Angling Association.
Further along the coast between Forres and Elgin, East Grange Farm has a well stocked mill pond where you can fly fish for rainbow trout.
After a hard day fishing, what better than to relax in the welcoming bar at Ramnee and talk about 'the one that got away' and tell all the staff 'it was that big' We promise... we will believe you!
The landscape and scenery in Morayshire, Speyside and the Highlands of Scotland provides varied and interesting areas to walk, anything from a pleasant stroll to challenging walking routes and hillwalking.
You do not have to stray far from Ramnee Hotel to discover stunning scenery. Take a stroll up Cluny Hill to Nelsons Tower and the viewpoint across Forres towards Findhorn. From Findhorn stroll along the beach towards Roseisle and Burghead, keep an eye out for the dolphins along the way! Head along the old Dava way railway line between Forres and Grantown on Spey (total distance 23 miles), discovering historic Dallas Dhu distillery en route.
Culbin Forest stretches along the Moray coast with views across the Moray Firth. There are miles of marked routes to explore and you may even be lucky enough to stumble upon a group of resting seals along the way. A short drive will take you to Sluie walk or Randolph's leap, offering stunning, rugged scenery and fast flowing rapids.
Miles and miles of unspoiled countryside await you on the Morayshire coast for your cycling holiday. There are many dedicated cycle routes and fascinating areas with historical interest and beautiful scenery for you to explore.
Explore the Culbin Forest, or head along the coastline from Findhorn to Roseisle and Burghead. For the more adventurous, there are many challenging off road and mountain biking areas to visit.
The Scottish Highlands are steeped in history and fascinating tales of bygone times.
Brodie Castle has been home to the Earl of Brodie and his family for hundreds of years and is now a treasured National Trust property offering guided tours, with a journey in to the past rich in tales of the Brodie family history. The grounds are spectacular, with woodland walks and observation hides.
Further along the A96 towards the Highland capital, Inverness, you will find the stunning Cawdor Castle a 14th century castle with guided tours. Visit Culloden Battlefield... take a walk across the battlefield and see where the clans fought and fell.

The North East of Scotland and the Morayshire coast is a wonderful area to visit at any time of year, with its changing landscape and range of events and activities available throughout the year.
Forres is home to the award-winning Grant Park with its stunning floral displays and leafy vistas. Forres Highland Games is held on the park on the first Saturday in July, which is just across the road from Ramnee Hotel. The annual Forres Theme Day is also held here, with many vintage cars and attractions.
Take a trip to East Grange Activity Centre, where you will find plenty to keep the family entertained, including combat laser quest, zip wire, fishing, quad bikes, dirt karts and archery.
